BELTA 2013

Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB), Brussels

Who is it for?

ELT professionals

On June 1st, BELTA will be hosting its first conference for ELT professionals. The event will take place at Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) in the centre of Brussels. They will announce more information very soon, including registration details and the great line up of speakers we are putting together.

The plenary speaker will be Philip Kerr. Philip will be speaking about translation in the ELT classroom. In his view, for too many years the use of L1 in language teaching has been proscribed or ignored by methodology experts, whilst many teachers have continued, sometimes guiltily, to use the language of their students when they felt it appropriate. Now, however, the wheel is beginning to turn and there is an academic and research consensus that supports the use of L1 and translation in the language classroom.

More details to be announced.
