Building business life skills

Who is it for?

The Macmillan Education Online Conference 2016 is open to all teachers and professionals working in ELT and is completely FREE to attend!

Within the world of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), we teachers often find ourselves focusing to a large extent on the teaching and memorizing of specific, discrete vocabulary items. It's what ESP coursebook materials normally tell us we should be doing. However, learning vocabulary is often the easy bit for the people we teach and they may even have more knowledge of it than we do. Participants in ESP courses usually have a more urgent and pressing need to develop business and life skills which they can use when communicating internationally at work, either now or in the future. In this session, Claire will explore some of the most relevant business and life skills for ESP learners and look at practical activities that you can use right away to help your learners develop them.
