Networking can be a great way to develop contacts outside of your normal teaching day.

It can also help you raise your profile within the ELT industry and enhance your employability.

Kirsten's top networking tips:

1. If you're heading to an event such as IATEFL, think about the type of people and companies you'd like to make contact with, and if necessary, try to do some research on them beforehand.

2. If there's a key person you would like to meet, it may be worth checking out their company or LinkedIn profile so you have an idea of who to look out for.

3. Lastly, go with a plan â€" think about why you're networking and what you hope to achieve to get the most out of the opportunity.
