Why create a CV or résumé?
A CV (Curriculum Vitae) or résumé is a way of introducing yourself to a future employer, but on paper rather than in person. Most companies and employers request CVs from interested applicants.
From a CV, and in many cases an accompanying cover letter, an employer can find out about someone’s work-related experience and skills, qualifications and training as well as other things, which help them choose from a lot of applicants and create a shortlist of people to interview for the job.
Are there different types of CVs?
There are many different types of CVs and styles of résumé. Variations in the kind of CV you write depend on whether you are applying to an advertised job role, to a job on spec, or to a work experience placement or internship.
