Macmillan Readers Shakespeare Competition : The Winners

To celebrate the publication of our first Shakespeare Readers, the Macmillan Readers team launched a brand new competition where the prize was a copy of the brilliant new version of Shakespeare's plays, The RSC Shakespeare: The Complete Works, being published by Palgrave Macmillan in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

All students had to do to be in with a chance of winning this great prize is complete the project below. The final section of this project asked them to re-write and produce a modern version of a scene from Romeo and Juliet which showed the important themes of the play.

We received some fantastic entries, but the winner is Milena Coluboviæ from Serbia - congratulations! Her great project about the forbidden love of supporters of rival football teams can be seen in the pictures below.

Milena's prize:

The RSC Shakespeare: The Complete Works, edited by Jonathan Bate and Eric Rasmussen.

The RSC Shakespeare: The Complete Works is the definitive edition of the complete works of Shakespeare based on the First Folio of 1623 (the original complete works assembled by Shakespeare's actors), so it is a fantastic resource for students who love his work. The publication has been developed in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company (the RSC), there is a real focus on Shakespeare's plays as dramatic productions, not just words on the page.

The title will be on release from mid-April, 2007, so this is an exclusive for the Macmillan Readers website!
