After deciding to make the move
back to London from foreign climes, I joined Macmillan in 2012 as a sales
representative and trainer for Macmillan English Campus. I was thrown in at the
deep end, travelling western Europe to meet people to talk about our digital
offerings and show them how to embrace and integrate this new technology in a
changing classroom – something I didn’t know much about myself before starting.
From trips to schools in German castles in snow at minus twenty degrees to
singing the national anthem to a uniformed General at an ELT exhibition on an
army base in central France, my experience was pretty varied. It also gave me a
chance to try out other things like leading training sessions, giving talks at
conferences and getting involved in marketing.
This led me to getting my new
role in marketing and communications, which I start this September. It’s an
exciting change, and I’ll be able to use everything I’ve learnt here so far and
draw on great relationships I’ve made with colleagues across the business and
across the globe while diving into something helping to develop a brand new
Press and PR team at Macmillan Education.
