Praise for the Straightforward course:
The latest level of Straightforward (Elementary) does not disappoint. Like the first book in the series, this coursebook for adults and young adults makes good on
the claim to offer activities which are transparent and based on sound classroom practice. There are twelve units in all, offering an integrated syllabus of grammar, vocabulary, functional language, pronunciation and skills work. Each unit contains four double pages. The book begins with two sections on the 'basics' such as the alphabet, numbers and useful classroom language. Tapescripts, information for some communication activities and a review section are in the back of the book. Many teachers find teaching elementary students challenging; the speaking activities here are certainly appropriate for this level of learner. The inclusion of word lists showing frequency through the star coding system from the Macmillan English Dictionary is excellent. The focuses on blogs and mobiles give the
material an up-to-date feel. The content is attractive, and the activities are often inventive and certainly engaging. Recommended.
Review by Pete Sharma for the International English Book Centre
'A clearly presented coursebook, stacked with classy ideas.'

Teacher testimonies:
I am using Straightforward Upper Intermediate with my class and it is going down very well. I am very impressed with the organisation of the book and the amount of both explicit and implicit recycling. The workbook activities reinforce the Student's Book extremely well - many Workbooks go off at a tangent. The wordlists are excellent - my learners like the idea that they only need focus on the red words. The writing section is brilliant, also. I've used lots of the activities from the Teacher's Book in class, and the trainee teachers really appreciate the material. I particularly like the ideas for extra activities.
What more can I say - it's first class. I'll definitely be recommending that we use it at other levels next term.

'A coursebook title that speaks for itself : a clear and 'straightforward' approach to double page lessons. The 'Methodology Builders' and cultural notes in the Teacher's Book provide both new and more experienced teachers with invaluable teaching advice and immediate cultural input.'
Martine Blanc-Menoud, Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud, Switzerland.
'We have started using Straightforward in our language school and
are finding it excellent, especially the Teacher's Book, which must be
the best in the world.'
