Session 1: Finding Peace in a Communicative Learning Environment

This session looks at how teachers (and learners) can find themselves sliding into chaos in communicative classrooms. But don’t stress: we will take a positive stand and find solutions to those challenges! We will analyze what to do to create order out of chaos and find peace (not war).

After the above session, you will be given the choice to attend one of the following 2 sessions, which take place simultaneously:

This Breathworks mindfulness workshop will help you deepen your understanding and practice of mindfulness to maintain good mental well-being and resilience. You will learn new mindfulness practices and key concepts that will support you in navigating the ups and downs of day-to-day work life.
In this workshop you will:

• learn how to better emotionally self-regulate
• three practices for day-to-day work life

About the Speakers

Sarah Hillyard is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Young Learners from the University of York, U.K. She has been teacher and coordinator at pre-primary level and is now ELT academic consultant for bilingual schools. She is tutor on NILE’s online course “Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education” (UK). She delivers webinars and teacher training sessions at conferences and schools and has published articles focusing on teaching English to young learners. She is co-author and series consultant for Pearson’s new pre-primary course “Little Stars” and primary course “Our Stories”. She used to be an actress with The Performers (TIE – Theatre in Education) and is now the company’s ELT consultant.

Karen Liebenguth is an accredited mindfulness teacher, mindfulness supervisor, accredited master coach and facilitator. She is an accredited and associate mindfulness trainer with Breathworks and offers tailored mindfulness & coaching programmes for the workplace.

Karen set up Green Space Coaching & Mindfulness in 2008 to foster personal and professional development, self-leadership and mental resilience. Karen is a member of and follows the Good Practice Guidelines set out by the British Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA).
