Language is a Life Skill

There’s a clear skills gap between what our students acquire in the classroom and what they need in the world beyond the classroom. Today’s adult students need a range of life skills that are transferable across the main domains of their lives: academic skills, employability skills and social skills. We need to find ways of integrating work on life skills with our students’ developing language skills. In fact, we need to recognize that the two are inseparable and that becoming more adept at a range of life skills is an inherent part of becoming a better user of English.
