Connecting Teens Day, on Tuesday 19th November, embraces those challenges and will offer teachers of teens a toolkit for helping teens manage their pubescent emotional journeys, build genuine bonds between one another in class and offer them opportunities for autonomy and agency in language learning. 

 

The event will take place live 3 times on Tuesday 19th November 
at 10am, 2pm, and 9:30pm UK Time and will last for around 2 hours.

  • Building Bonds: Enhancing Teen Learning through Social Connections

    How can we foster stronger bonds and, therefore, a more cohesive classroom environment for teenagers? This session aims at gaining insights into fostering meaningful connections between learners, improving student engagement, and creating a dynamic, interactive learning space. Together we will learn about the concept of agency and how social awareness and positive relationship building are the true game changer in your English classes. .

    Navigating Big Emotions from Childhood to Teenhood

    The road from childhood to teenhood is accompanied by a surge of intense emotions that children must navigate. In Prof. Galazka’s talk, you will learn how you can support this transition by treating “big emotions” as catalysts for active participation, personal growth and a more engaged learning experience for everyone.

    Learning to fly: Learner autonomy in exam preparation

    Let’s face it – most exam courses offer a limited time of face-to-face learning, with the teacher driving the process. Very often, it’s not enough to properly prepare for the exam ahead. Unless students are willing to take their learning outside the classroom and devote some of their free-time to developing their linguistic skills, nailing the exam might turn out to be quite difficult. In the session, we are going to look at ways of motivating students to take that extra mile and embrace the responsibility for their own learning.
