We have all heard of and taught phonics at some stage of our career, but do we understand why we teach phonics and what is the best approach? In this session we will revisit what phonics is, before exploring why phonics is essential for young learners. Using the new Snappy Sounds series we will examine how phonics can be taught in a structured and systematic way. Teachers will explore a variety of resources to make their lives easier and support them teach children to read and write effectively. This will be a practical session with lots of tips for the classroom.
